Premier League: Arsenal, Southampton register wins; Manchester United draw again at home

After a four-game goal drought, Alexis Sanchez rediscovered his scoring touch with a brace as Arsenal kept pace with the leading pack by winning 3-1 at home to Bournemouth. Theo Walcott also got his name in the score-sheet as Arsenal ended a run of three straight draws in all competitions.
The Gunners took the lead early through Sanchez, courtesy of a defensive blunder by Thomas Cook. The Chilean winger pounced on the erratic back-pass and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Adam Federeci.
Bournemouth leveled things in the 23rd minute when Callum Wilson netted from the penalty spot after Nacho Monreal was harshly adjudged to have fouled him
However, Arsenal took until eight minutes into the second half to go back in front with Theo Walcott heading in Monreal's cross. Sanchez completed the win in stoppage time from substitute Olivier Giroud's pass.
“I felt we started well, but when they equalised we were nervous and that’s where having three consecutive draws played a little bit on our minds,” said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman made a sad return to former club Southampton as his side lost 1-0 at Saint Mary’s Stadium.
Charlie Austin scored the game’s only goal after just 41 seconds after 19-year-old debutant Josh Sims helped on Cedric’s cross.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was sent off as his side endured another draw in the Premier League; a 1-1 draw with West Ham. It was United’s fourth successive home draw in the league — a first since 1980 — and left them 11 points below leaders Chelsea in sixth place.
After Diafra Sakho’s second-minute opener was cancelled out by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mourinho was sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle after being enraged by Paul Pogba’s booking.
United assistant manager Rui Faria, filling in for Mourinho, told BBC Sport: “We all believe the results will appear.
“The referee explained it to Jose and there is nothing more to say. I think it was frustration from Jose after the yellow card for Pogba.
“It should be a foul for us, but the referee understood it in another way.”
Elsewhere, a scrappy own goal settled an ill-tempered game as Stoke won 1-0 at Watford on Sunday.
A header from Charlie Adam came back off the post and cannoned off Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes’ legs into the net in the 29th minute. Referee Bobby Madley gave 38 fouls but missed a key one when Adam pushed Valon Behrami before the header.
“I think it was a foul actually, I pushed him,” Adam said.
The game also saw Miguel Britos being sent off in the 90th minute after the defender received a second yellow card for tugging back Xherdan Shaqiri.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Chelsea ended Spurs 12-match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
Christian Eriksen fired Tottenham ahead in the 11th minute with a long-range strike, but Pedro equalized with a superb curling effort just before the interval. In the 51st minute, Victor
Moses’s shot was deflected into the net off Jan Vertonghen as Antonio Conte’s men remained on top.
Divock Origi and James Milner scored apiece as Liverpool continued their top form by beating Sunderland 2-0 at Anfield.

At Turf Moor, Burnley took a shock 14th-minute lead against Manchester City when Dean Marney smacked a 25-yard volley that nestled in the bottom-left corner. But Sergio Aguero equalised in the 37th minute, and also scored the winner on the hour-mark.
